Tefillin
תפילין
The Admur Hazaken script follows the letter forms described by Rabbi Shneur Zalman of Liadi, the first Lubavitcher Rebbe, in his Shulchan Aruch (chapter 36). It combines the Beit Yosef tradition with the Ari Zal's indications, and it is the script of Chabad chassidim.

How to choose a mezuzah or tefillin?
Gassot batim are made from a single piece of thick leather; they are the sturdiest, can be repaired and stay square for decades. Peshutim mehudarim are also made from a single piece of leather, but thinner: a kosher, budget-friendly option.
We offer all four scripts (Ashkenazi, Sefarad, Ari Zal, Admur Hazaken) as well as Rabbeinu Tam tefillin. Every pair ships with a certificate, a case and wearing instructions.
Gassot are made from one piece of thick leather, very durable and repairable; they are the mehudar standard. Peshutim mehudarim are also one piece but thin leather: kosher and cheaper, less durable. Avoid plain "peshutim" glued from several pieces.
At least 2 to 3 months before the date: writing the parchments and making the batim takes several weeks, and the boy should practice putting them on before he is obligated.
