מזוזות
A mezuzah is a parchment scroll (klaf) on which a sofer handwrites the two passages of the Shema (Deuteronomy 6:4-9 and 11:13-21). Only the scroll is the mezuzah in halachic terms; the case merely protects it.

Service · Send us your mezuzot: a sofer checks them, repairs them where possible and returns a report.
Service · Send a clear photo of your scroll: a sofer tells you within 48 hours whether it is kosher or needs a physical check.
How to choose a mezuzah or tefillin?
All our mezuzot are written by certified sofrim, checked letter by letter by computer and proofread by a second sofer. The size (7, 10, 12 or 15 cm) is the height of the parchment: the larger it is, the wider, more legible and more durable the lettering.
Choose the script according to your tradition: Ashkenazi (Beit Yosef), Sefarad (Velish), Ari Zal (Chassidim) or Admur Hazaken (Chabad). If in doubt, contact us for free advice.
Measure the inner length of the case: the rolled scroll must fit with at least 1 cm to spare.
| Inner case length | Recommended scroll |
|---|---|
| 8 to 10 cm | 7 cm |
| 11 to 13 cm | 10 cm |
| 13 to 15 cm | 12 cm |
| 16 cm and more | 15 cm |
10 cm is the standard for most cases. 7 cm suits small decorative cases. 12 and 15 cm give wider lettering, which is more legible and more durable over time; it is the recommended choice for the front door.
Halacha requires checking twice every seven years (Shulchan Aruch, Yoreh Deah 291). Many have them checked yearly during Elul, before Rosh Hashanah. Mezuzot exposed to humidity or sun deteriorate faster.
