Kosher tefillin at an accessible price: single-piece thin leather batim, Ashkenazi or Sefarad parchments.
≈ US$529 (indicative, charged in euros)
Kashrut certificate
Peshutim mehudarim tefillin are the kosher budget solution: the batim are made from a single piece of leather (unlike ordinary peshutim glued from several pieces, which we do not sell), but in thinner leather than gassot.
The parchments are handwritten by a certified sofer, in Ashkenazi (Beit Yosef) or Sefarad script as you choose, computer-checked and proofread. Kosher straps, certificate and case included.
These tefillin suit a tight budget or a second pair (travel). For a bar mitzvah, we recommend gassot, which last a lifetime.
Handwritten on parchment (klaf) from a kosher animal, with halachically valid black ink, by a certified sofer. Computer check of every letter, then proofreading by a second sofer. Ships with a kashrut certificate.
Every scroll is checked twice before shipping: by computer, letter by letter, then proofread by a second sofer. The named certificate attests to this check.
Tracked and insured shipping from France or Israel. In-stock items ship within 2 business days. Items written to order show their lead time on the product page.

Scrolls are sacred handwritten items: they can only be returned for a kashrut defect confirmed by a sofer. Cases and accessories can be returned within 14 days.
Gassot are made from one piece of thick leather, very durable and repairable; they are the mehudar standard. Peshutim mehudarim are also one piece but thin leather: kosher and cheaper, less durable. Avoid plain "peshutim" glued from several pieces.
At least 2 to 3 months before the date: writing the parchments and making the batim takes several weeks, and the boy should practice putting them on before he is obligated.
